Entailing constructive feedback from our professor and classmates deems to be very beneficial in my studies. I believe this to be true as all the constructive feedback is used for best practices to be in hopes of a successful business. For example, a reference was probably not in the bottom of my paper by accident as it is required whenever you cite. Collaborating appears to be very essential especially for our unit 5 projects and is feasible to ensure the implementation of a fine paper.
The process that I plan on using for research, to identify findings, and for the comprehensive project is to take advantage of and use the available resources and objectives as a given. I will utilize the schools’ textbooks, Intellipath, the library, Internet, and perhaps MUSE. This outline is only preliminary so, I will make changes as I go by adding to as needed as long as I cover every detail there is for these final assignments.

3. What are Pareto charts? How and why are they used? How are they related to the Pareto principle?
Pareto charts are a basis to divide and conquer what one should work on first when identifying improvements needed for the company. The chart is has a bar graph view and has two measures; frequency of defects and overall impact. Frequency typically appears vertically and runs up and down. The impact is labeled horizontally and runs left to right. Pareto’s analysis states, “A few problems normally is caused by a large percentage of errors and defects.” Commonly identified as the 80/20 rule, Pareto principle is helpful in the measure and control phase of the Six Sigma methodology (Bonacorsi, n.d.). The Pareto chart will assist in continuous improvement as stable and predictable outcomes. One can refer to fast food restaurant experience from the customer level. One walks into a restaurant and is greeted by a cashier. The cashier should be welcoming by offering a standard greeting, call off the special for today, and then be available for further assistance. The product experience begins when one enters into the building. If this does not occur, the first impression from a customer service standpoint could be ruin and have an effect on sales. If this is identified as a concern through the usage of a Pareto chart, continuous improvement can begin here. More than likely, surveying can be lead to a check sheet being created and then problems are identified and resolutions provided.

“Pareto charts are useful for separating the important from the trivial” (Goetsch, D., L., & Davis, S., 2020). Pareto charts are used to show the mishaps within a company, and how frequent those are happening. Typically, a pareto chart is shown as a type of bar graph or line graph to show the frequency of events happening, and what should be addressed before anything else.
“The Pareto Principle, named after economist Vilfredo Pareto, is more commonly known in quality circles as the 80/20 rule” (Goetsch, D., L., & Davis, S., 2020). The Pareto Principle is a type of mathematical reasoning that can show the relationship between to quantities. Both the Pareto Principle and Pareto charts help to highlight errors within a company that needed to be fixed or worked on.
What are some examples of performance measurement systems, and how do they support continuous improvement and quality initiatives?
Performance management systems are systems where a company can observe and measure their intangible elements and that performance based on quantitative and qualitative analysis Examples of performance measurement systems are indirect/direct costs, units of materials, and activities, ISO standards, and scorecards. Performance management system help to provide valuable information on what is going on within a company and provide a base where strategies can be implemented for growth.

Foundational to the Pareto chart is the 80/20 rule, or the Pareto principle, which states that 20% of the defects in an organization cause 80% of the problems.
In assembling a Pareto chart, teams gather data on a particular issue to identify the top 20% of causes.
For example a car company has identified that brake issues and lack of cargo space are the primary causes of customer dissatisfaction in their minivan line. Combined, brakes and cargo space equal about 80%. It is clear now where the team should focus their improvement efforts. The purpose of the Pareto chart is to highlight the most important among a (typically large) set of factors. In quality control, Pareto charts are useful to find the defects to prioritize in order to observe the greatest overall improvement.
A Pareto chart is a bar graph or the combination of bar and line graphs. The purpose of using this chart is to represent a set of data in a bar graph chart. The individual values are represented by the length of the bars and the line shows the combined total. The values are expressed from the longest bar to the shortest bar in the graph.
The Pareto charts help teams know where to focus their improvement and thus save time.
